This weeks race results: 50km & 10km success for Striders

Ally Whitlock, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well in the Devil’s Lite 50-kilometre race, starting and finishing at Steyning on Saturday. She was the fourth woman to finish, placing first in the W40 age-group and 26th overall out of 192 finishers. She completed the undulating course in 5 hours 41 minutes 50 seconds.

On Sunday, Steve Massey ran well to place fourth in the over-50 category in the Folkestone Coastal 10-kilometre road race. He placed 75th overall out of 699 finishers, recording 40 minutes 36 seconds. Club colleague Damian Macenhill was fifth in the over-50 category and 92nd overall in 42 minutes 36.

Five Striders ran well in the RunThrough 10-kilometre race at Battersea Park on Thursday evening. They were led by Darren Woods who placed 57th out of 276 finishers, recording 40 minutes 43 seconds. Peter Johnson was second in the M55 category, placing 67th overall in 42 minutes 11. In the M50 category, Keith Murkin was fifth (44:49) with Dan Holmes sixth (46:51). In addition, Rotimi Oyegunle finished in about 45 minutes 55, but was omitted from the official results.

Four days earlier, Darren Woods had also run well to place 21st out of 165 finishers in the Rye 10-mile road race.  He completed the undulating course in 70 minutes 15 seconds. In the five-mile race held in conjunction, Peter Johnson finished fourth out of 65 finishers, and was first in the over-50 category, in 35 minutes 23.
