Steve Corfield, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to set a new club M60 mile record of 5:17.86 in the Epsom & Ewell Harriers meeting at Ewell on Thursday evening. At the same meeting, Peter Johnson ran 6:10.15 while Darren Woods ran 6:17.56.
In the RunThrough Chase the Sun 10K, at Battersea Park on Wednesday, Paul Thomas placed 30th out of 554 finishers (37:02). In an 800 metres race at Birmingham, James Rhodes equalled his season’s best of 2:11.70.
On Saturday morning, Striders had a total of 138 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Consuelo Kennefick was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 18th overall out of 236 finishers (22:32). Lauren Cotton-Walkington was the second woman to finish the Hastings High School parkrun at Hinckley in Leicestershire, placing 27th overall out of 137 finishers (25:33). Fiona Delaney was the second woman to finish the Zamek w Malborku parkrun in Poland, placing seventh overall out of 21 finishers (27:57). Marc Burrows placed third out of 192 finishers at the Grangemoor parkrun in Cardiff (18:19). Steve Corfield placed third out of 261 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (19:57). Kara Boaks was the third woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 21st overall out of 208 finishers (21:48), while Cindy Siu was the fourth woman to finish, placing 35th overall (23:45).
On Sunday morning, Striders had the first two finishers in the Lloyd junior parkrun. Zoe Siu placed first out of 118 finishers in a personal best 7:45, while club colleague Caleb Macenhill was second (8:00).
