Steve Corfield, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well in the British Masters Championships at Derby on Saturday. He placed second in the M60 800 metres in 2:21.95, only beaten by Scottish international Robert McHarg.
In the Tallinn Marathon on Sunday, Phil Coales ran well to finish 40th out of more than 2900 runners. He recorded 2:45:57, which places him eleventh in Striders’ all-time club rankings.
In the Scilly Islands 60-kilometre race, Josef Freedman placed 10th out of 90 finishers, recording 5:24:59.
In the Veterans AC five-kilometre road race, at Battersea on Tuesday, Steve Corfield was second in the M60 age-group, placing 16th overall out of 89 finishers (18:11). Graeme Drysdale was 28th (19:07), while Peter Johnson was 44th (20:13).
On Saturday morning, Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 18th overall out of 188 finishers (22:35). Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the Ardgillan parkrun in Ireland, placing eighth overall out of 83 finishers (23:06). Graeme Drysdale placed third out of 141 finishers in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (19:19). Dylan Linkson placed fourth out of 229 finishers in the South Norwood parkrun (20:02). Striders had a total of 122 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
On Saturday, Alex Legge, took part in the Dock2Dock 3 km swim and finished 1:34:20.
On Sunday morning, Toby Lee-Smith placed first in the Lloyd junior parkrun for the second successive week (7:49). Club colleague Caleb Macenhill placed second (7:53) with Daniel Williams fourth (8:24). Also on Sunday, Maili Singh completed the Great North Run in 2:17:04 as did Jo Riches in 2:46:49.
In the Stan Allen Mile at Tooting on Wednesday, Vanessa Wheeler ran a personal best 7:49:24, while Sarah Allport ran 10:07:42.
