• Tatsuya Okamoto first at Roundshaw Parkrun

    Striders of Croydon had the first two finishers in the Roundshaw parkrun on Saturday, with Tatsuya Okamoto finishing first in 17 minutes 34 seconds, and veteran Krzysztof Klidzia placing second in 18 minutes 31. Club colleague Lee Flanagan finished first out of 231 runners in the Lloyd parkrun, recording 18 minutes 54. Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 12th overall (21:21), while Marianne Chua was the second woman home, finishing 19th overall (23:19). Sophia Sachedina was the first woman to finish the Amager Faelled parkrun, placing 38th overall (23:19), while Steph Upton was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 29th overall (22:18), and Selena Wong was the second woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 44th overall (24:11). Striders had a total of 74 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
    On Sunday Darren Woods placed 20th out of 298 finishers in the Isle of Wight Half-Marathon, completing the undulating course in 87 minutes 52 seconds.
     
    Striders held their annual triathlon at Trinity School last week. The winner was Paul Finch, who finished just 38 seconds ahead of veteran Matthew Stone, with Martin Drake third. Steph Upton was the first woman to finish, ahead of Ruth Pearson and Emily Dean.
     
    Striders’ women did well to finish eighth in the final Surrey Road League table, published this week, while the club’s men were tenth of the 35 clubs in the league. Individually, Striders’ leading runner was Susanna Lutman, who finished second in the women’s over-35 category, while club colleague Selena Wong was third. Niamh Vincent was sixth in the women’s under-35 category.
