• Striders women beat men in Road League

    The women from Striders of Croydon did very well to finish ninth in this season’s Surrey Road League, outshining the club’s men, who placed 12th of the 35 clubs in the league. Individually, Maggie Statham ran very well to win the women’s over-55 category, while Selena Wong was sixth in the over-35 category and Adele Boesinger was sixth in the under-35 category. For Striders’ men, Graeme Drysdale was eighth in the over-40 category with Steve Massey ninth. Darren Woods was 13th in the under-40 category.
     
    Tatsuya Okamoto was first home at the Riddlesdown parkrun on Saturday, recording 17 minutes 18 seconds. Rachel Lindley had an excellent run to finish second overall in the parkrun at Lloyd Park, beating all but one of her male rivals as she set a new women’s course record of 18 minutes 45. Striders had an impressive total of 74 finishers at the various weekly parkruns (23 at Lloyd Park and 51 at other venues).
     
    Striders held their annual triathlon championships at Trinity School on Thursday. The winner was Mark Bayliss, while Matt Stone was the fastest over-50 and Steph Upton was the fastest woman.
