• Striders third at Beckenham and Bromley mobmatch

    Striders of Croydon fielded a good turnout of 28 runners, but had to settle for third place in their annual mobmatch against Beckenham Running Club and Blackheath & Bromley, held on a muddy seven-mile course at West Wickham. Striders were led by Alastair Falconer, who ran well to place eighth of the 109 finishers in 42 minutes 44 seconds. Dave Vinton was 20th (47.06) with Krzysztof Klidzia 23rd (48.18) and Andy Perks 26th (48.51). Striders’ women were led by Serena Stracey who was the seventh woman to finish, placing 52nd overall (54.33). Lucy Kulp was 81st (61.35) with Amanda Hewett 84th (61.47) and Marianne Chua 88th (62.26).

    In the Farnborough Half-Marathon, Striders were led by Darren Woods who placed 70th out of more than 1600 finishers, recording a personal best of 87 minutes 34 seconds. Club colleague Steve Massey was 163rd (91.55). Tatsuya Okamoto was second in the Riddlesdown parkrun, covering the five-kilometre course in 18 minutes 02. Niamh Vincent was the second woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 22nd overall (23.04). Selena Wong was the second woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 40th overall (25.56) and Alice Ewen was the second woman to finish the Roundshaw parkrun, placing 47th overall (24.47). Striders had a total of 44 finishers at the various weekly parkruns (17 at Lloyd Park and 27 at other venues).
