Striders’ Simone finsihes 12th in county champs
Simone Luciani, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to place 12th out of 252 finishers in the Wimbledon 5-kilometre road race, which included the Surrey Championships, at Wimbledon Park on Sunday. He covered the undulating course in 16 minutes 35 seconds. Justin Macenhill also ran well to place 44th (18.02) with Steve Massey 90th (19.35) and Darren Woods 118th (20.40). Striders’ women were led by Becky Laurence who placed 197th overall (23.22).
On the previous day Morena Lironi ran well to be the first woman at the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, finishing 16th overall in 21 minutes 53. Tyler O’Callaghan was third in the Dulwich parkrun (18.13) and Graeme Drysdale was fourth in the Riddlesdown parkrun (18.37). Striders had a total of 48 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (18 at Lloyd Park and 30 at other venues).
