Striders return to racing
Andrew Aitken, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to place seventh out of 88 finishers in the Veterans AC five-kilometre road race at Wimbledon on Sunday morning. He covered the undulating five-kilometre course in 17 minutes 27 seconds.
In the Blackheath & Bromley Open Meeting, at Norman Park on the same day, Nikki Javan ran very well to place eleventh in her heat of the 3000 metres, recording a personal best of 12 minutes 17.06 seconds. Club colleague James Rhodes placed sixth in his heat of the 800 metres (2:12.11), while Peter Johnson was eleventh in his heat of the 1500 metres (5:29.23).
