    Matthew Stone, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run in the Veterans AC five-kilometre road race at Battersea Park on Tuesday evening. He placed 16th out of 72 finishers in a new club over-50 record of 17 minutes 53 seconds, which was eight seconds faster than the previous record, set by Krzysztof Klidzia at the same venue in 2018. This also places Matthew 15th in Striders’ all-time 5km road rankings.

    On the following day, Andrew Aitken placed 31st out of 291 finishers in the Brighton Phoenix 10-kilometre road race, recording 36 minutes 51 seconds, while James Rhodes was 70th (40:16). In the RunThrough 10-kilometre road race at Stratford, Peter Johnson ran well to place 13th overall, and first in the over-55 category, in 41 minutes 11, while Darren Woods was 24th (42:50). Anna O’Sullivan was the 29th woman to finish, placing 114th overall in a personal best 52 minutes 12, four seconds ahead of club colleague Keith Murkin.

    In the Richmond Riverside 10K on Saturday, Michael Joseph was second in the M60 age-group, placing 47th overall out of 193 finishers in 49 minutes 48. In the Caterham Half-Marathon, in hot conditions on Sunday, Peter Johnson placed 70th in 1 hour 36 minutes 13 seconds, while Darren Woods was 84th (1:39:34) and Stephen Allport 150th (1:53:16).
