• Striders Race 800m to 100 miles!

Debra Bourne, from Striders of Croydon, again showed her exceptional stamina in the Centurion Running Autumn 100-mile trail race, starting and finishing at Goring in Oxfordshire. She completed the course in a personal best of 23 hours 08 minutes 48 seconds, which was the first time she has run 100 miles in under 24 hours. She was the sixth woman to finish, placing first in the W50 category and 77th overall out of the 197 starters.

Striders’ leading middle-distance runner, James Rhodes, competed in the Blackheath & Bromley Open Meeting at Norman Park on Sunday and placed fourth in his heat of the 800 metres. His time of 2 minutes 09.95 seconds was only half a second outside the personal best which he recorded at Tooting Bec in early September. Also at Norman Park, Steve Starvis was seventh in his heat of the 3000 metres, recording 11 minutes 11.31 seconds.
