Striders’ Peter runs well in elite race
Peter Mills, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to place 70th out of 261 finishers in the Inter-Counties Cross-Country Championship at Cofton Park, Birmingham, on Saturday. He covered the 12-kilometre course in 41 minutes 50 seconds, and was the fourth Surrey runner to finish.
On the same day Simon Ambrosi was the first runner home in the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, covering the undulating five-kilometre course in 19 minutes 06 seconds. John Punt was third in the Lullingstone parkrun (21.12), while Graeme Drysdale was fourth in the Riddlesdown parkrun (19.54) with Paul Finch fifth (20.17). Michelle Campbell was the fifth woman to finish the Banstead parkrun (23.54). Striders had a total of 41 finishers at the various weekly parkruns (18 at Lloyd Park and 23 at other venues).
On the following day Matt Smith finished 117th in a large field in the Bath Half Marathon, recording 79 minutes 30 seconds. Darren Woods finished 156th in the Finchley 20-mile road race, recording a personal best 2 hours 31 minutes 30 seconds.
