• Striders perform well at distances from 5km to 50km

    James Rhodes, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to place sixth in the Folkestone Half-Marathon on Sunday. He recorded a personal best of 77 minutes 55 seconds, lifting him to 23rd place in Striders’ all-time club rankings. Club colleague Andrew Aitken also ran well to place ninth in 79 minutes 21. Nikki Javan was the sixth woman to finish the Northampton Half-Marathon, placing 66th overall in a personal best of 96 minutes 10.

    On the same day, three Striders completed the Berlin Marathon. Stephen Allport finished in 3 hours 35 minutes 47, and was followed by Adrian Campomanes (4:12:37) and Michael Joseph (4:25:02).

    On Saturday, Ally Whitlock ran well to be the third woman to finish the XRNG 50-kilometre race at Tring, placing 11th overall in 4 hours 59 minutes 24. Charlotte Nusca was the fourth woman to finish, placing 13th overall in her first race at this distance (5:01:36). Phil Coales placed 12th in the Middlesex 10K in Victoria Park, recording a personal best of 34 minutes 07, which lifts him to 13th place in Striders’ all-time club rankings.

    Also on Saturday, Niamh Vincent ran well to be the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun. She placed tenth overall out of 130 finishers, completing the five-kilometre course in 21 minutes 12. Jemma Zakariyyau was the third woman to finish the Nonsuch parkrun, placing 88th overall (21:38). Lee Flanagan was fourth out of 210 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (18:56) while Steve Corfield was fifth (19:53). Consuelo Kennefick was the fourth woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 21st overall (22:07). Striders had a total of 93 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
