• Steve Corfield sets new club mens V60 5km record

    Steve Corfield, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to be the first over-60 to finish the Veterans AC five-kilometre road race at Battersea on Tuesday evening. He set a new club male age-group record of 17 minutes 51, placing 18th overall out of 85 finishers.

    On Saturday morning, Erik Schrijnemaekers was first out of 92 finishers in the Ifield Mill Pond parkrun (19:31). Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 17th overall (22:25). Ellyw Evans was the third woman to finish, placing 32nd overall (24:29). Martin Filer was third in the Riddlesdown parkrun (18:52), while Consuelo Kennefick was the second woman to finish, placing 22nd overall (22:15). Peter Johnson was third in the Leavesden parkrun (20:50). Cindy Siu was the third woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 44th overall (25:17). Striders had a total of 96 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.

    Later on Saturday, Keith Murkin finished the 22-mile ‘Man v Horse’ race in Llanwrtyd Wells in 4 hours 34 minutes 34.

    In the Hercules-Wimbledon series of 3000 metre races on Wednesday evening, Phil Coales placed 18th in his heat (10:13.85).

    In the Newcastle to Blaydon 5.7 mile road race on Friday, Stephen Allport finished in 40 minutes 17 while Sarah Allport ran 68:27.
