Steph and Barry battle in the mud in London champs
London xc champs, Beckenham 10K trail, Epsom 10, Los Montesinos – 17th & 18th November 2012
Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in the London Cross-Country Championships at Parliament Hill on Saturday. Their best performance came from Steph Upton who ran well to place 46th of the 139 finishers in the senior women’s race, covering the undulating six-kilometre course in 27 minutes 8 seconds. Club colleague Alice Ewen was 91st in 29 minutes 33. Striders’ men were led by Barry White who placed 129th of 279 finishers, covering the ten kilometres in 42 minutes 32. Chris Morton was 144th (43.10), Simon Webster 192nd (45,.34) and Geoff Pennells 243rd (48.55).
Krzysztof Klidzia placed second in the Beckenham 10k Trail race last week, covering the undulating course in 38 minutes 27 seconds. Robin Jamieson set a club over-65 10 mile record of 81 minutes 53 at Epsom, while John McGilvray set a club over-65 10 kilometre record of 48 minutes 18 at Los Montesinos, near Torrevieja in Spain.
