Simone Luciani wins the RunThrough 10km race at the Olympic Park
Simone Luciani, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to win the RunThrough ten-kilometre road race at the Olympic Park in Stratford on Sunday, recording 34 minutes 13 seconds. He finished 38 seconds ahead of his nearest rival. In the five-kilometre race at the same venue, James Rhodes was third (17:43) with Andrew Aitken fifth (17:49).
On the previous day, in the Herne Hill Harriers Halloween Endurance Meeting at Battersea Park, James Rhodes had placed sixth in the A 800 metres race in 2 minutes 13.7 seconds. Phil Coales was seventh in the A 3000 metres race (9:34.1). Steve Massey won his 3000 metre race (11:20.8), while club colleague Nikki Javan placed sixth (12:27.3). This places Nikki 17th in this year’s British W40 rankings. Steve had earlier placed fourth in his heat of the 800 metres (2:29.9).
