• Simone Luciani 12th at Nocturno Benicassim 10k

    Andrew Aitken, from Striders of Croydon, ran well to finish first out of 109 runners in the South Norwood parkrun on Saturday, covering the five-kilometre course in 18 minutes 14 seconds. Becky Laurence was the first woman to finish, placing 28th overall in 22 minutes 47. Tatsuya Okamoto was second in the Riddlesdown parkrun (17:09) with Alastair Falconer third (17:34). Krzysztof Klidzia was third in the Lloyd parkrun (18:49) while Sophia Sachedina was the second woman to finish, placing 51st overall (24:11). Graeme Drysdale was third in the Beckenham parkrun (18:59). Striders had a total of 75 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (21 at Lloyd Park and 54 at other venues).
     
    Simone Luciani ran well to place 12th out of 692 finishers in the Nocturno Benicassim 10-kilometre road race, recording 36 minutes 24 seconds in hot and humid conditions. In the British Masters Championships at Birmingham, Alan Dolton was ninth in the M60 1500 metres (6:16.83). On Sunday Yasmin Anderson was the third woman to finish the hilly Woldingham Marathon, placing 24th overall in 5 hours 38 minutes 10 seconds. In the half-marathon held in conjunction, David Vinton placed third (1:41:26), while his wife Rachel Vinton was the second woman to finish, placing 13th overall (1:56:05). Debra Bourne was the second over-50 woman to finish the 86-mile Ridgeway Challenge, completing the course in 21 hours 32 minutes.
