Sandra Francis wins Gold in the W60 long jump
Sandra Francis, from Striders of Croydon, had a successful day at the South of England Masters Indoor Championships, at Lee Valley on Sunday. She won gold in the W60 long jump with a leap of 3 metres 05, and took silver in the W60 hurdles in 15.11 seconds. Club colleague Alan Dolton was fourth in the M60 800 metres (3:10.15).
On Saturday, Krzysztof Klidzia placed first out of 151 finishers in the Riddlesdown parkrun, recording 18 minutes 21 seconds. Steph Upton was the second woman to finish, placing 28th overall (22:24). Marianne Chua was the second woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 23rd overall (23:02). Simon Ambrosi was second in the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park (19:26) with Peter Mills third (19:38). Striders had a total of 76 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Gemma Halliday was second in the W35 age-group in the Hyde Park 10-kilometre road race, recording a personal best 48 minutes 32.
In the Ashby Mile, at Croydon Arena on Thursday evening, Lorraine Hunte set a Striders W65 record of 7 minutes 44.8 seconds.
