Rob Lines first at Lloyd Parkrun
Robert Lines, from Striders of Croydon, ran well to take first place in the weekly parkrun at Lloyd Park on Saturday. He completed the muddy five-kilometre course in 19 minutes 11 seconds. Club colleague Matthew Stone placed fourth (19:51), and achieved the highest age-grading. Jenny Rowe was the fifth woman to finish, placing 33rd overall (23:34). Veteran Krzysztof Klidzia was third in the South Norwood parkrun (19:29) with Graeme Drysdale fifth (20:11). Striders had a total of 60 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (32 at Lloyd Park and 28 at other venues).
In the Pirie 10-mile cross-country race at Coulsdon on Sunday, Striders were led by Tatsuya Okamoto who ran well to place tenth out of 92 finishers, recording 63 minutes 38 seconds. Darren Woods was 31st (70:52), just one place and one second ahead of club colleague Martin Filer. Martin’s run was particularly impressive as only a week earlier he had run the San Sebastian Marathon in Spain in a personal best of 3 hours 02 minutes 21 seconds, finishing 349th out of more than 2300 runners.
