• Race Report 01.10.2018 – SOC second at East Surrey Leage XC race at Lloyd Park

    Striders of Croydon produced a very good team performance to place second of nine clubs in the East Surrey League cross-country race at Lloyd Park on Saturday. They were led by veteran Krzysztof Klidzia who ran very well to place sixth overall, and first in the over-50 category, completing the five-mile course in 29 minutes 59 seconds. Lee Flanagan also ran well to place eighth (30:17) with Iain Harrison ninth (30:23) and Matt Stone completing the scoring team in 12th (30:54). Striders had the first B team to finish. This team comprised Rob Lines in 17th (31:16), Andy Perks 22nd (31:52), Martin Filer 23rd (32:04) and Darren Woods 26th (32:26). Striders’ women were led by Steph Upton who was the 12th woman to finish, placing 64th overall (38:18). Debra Bourne was the next woman home in 67th (38:39). Striders had a total of 20 finishers in the senior race, which was the most of any of the nine clubs in the match.
     
    In the young athletes’ race, over two miles, Striders were led by Christopher Finch who placed 44th overall in 12 minutes 59. His brother Daniel Finch was 63rd (14:02) and his sister Lucy Finch was 83rd (16:18).
     
    This Saturday (6th) Striders have several competitors in the Alf Shrubb Memorial cross-country race, hosted by South London Harriers on Farthing Downs.
