• Phil gets PB at Reading Half

    Phil Coales, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run in the Reading Half-Marathon on Sunday. He placed 91st out of more than 9000 finishers, recording a personal best of 74 minutes 37 seconds, which lifts him to fifth place in Striders’ all-time club rankings. Club colleague Mike Stewart finished in 82 minutes 05. Peter Laurence also ran well to place 16th out of 127 finishers in the Selsdon Half-Marathon, covering the hilly course in 1 hour 40 minutes 09. Club colleague Andy Morcombe was 28th (1.46.10).
     
    Striders had the first two finishers at the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park on Saturday. 51-year-old Krzysztof Klidzia was first home, beating all his younger rivals as he covered the five-kilometre course in 18 minutes 41, with club colleague Rob Lines just one second behind him. Justin Macenhill was first home at the Roundshaw parkrun (18.59) with Paul Finch third (19.31). Simon Ambrosi was second at the Bromley parkrun (18.29). Striders had a total of 66 finishers at the various weekly parkruns (30 at Lloyd Park and 36 at other venues).
