Peter breaks Striders 10 mile record at Maidenhead
Peter Mills, from Striders of Croydon, had an outstanding run to place fourth out of more than 800 finishers in the Maidenhead 10-mile road race on Good Friday, setting a new club record of 54 minutes 17 seconds, which is more than half a minute quicker than the previous record set by Simon Morris 31 years ago. Club colleague Simon Webster was 181st (69.45) and Darren Woods 216th (72.01).
On the following day Becky Laurence was the first woman to finish the Tring parkrun, placing 27th overall in 24 minutes 42, while Selena Wong was the third woman to finish the Faelledparken parkrun in Denmark, placing 24th overall in 24 minutes 12. Krzysztof Klidzia was fourth at the Lloyd parkrun (19.14), while Simon Ambrosi was fourth at the Bromley parkrun (17.43) and Graeme Drysdale was fourth at the Riddlesdown parkrun (19.24). Striders had a total of 51 finishers at the various weekly parkruns (19 at Lloyd Park and 32 at other venues).
