• parkrun mob match at Roundshaw Downs

    Striders of Croydon had a very good turnout of 36 runners at the Roundshaw parkrun on Saturday, which incorporated a mob match against Epsom, Collingwood and Tadworth. Striders were led by Matthew Stone who ran well to place sixth of the 207 finishers and first in the M55 age-group, recording 18 minutes 33 seconds. Phil Coales was seventh (18:44) with Justin Macenhill tenth (18:52). Steve Corfield ran well to be the over-60 to finish, placing 15th overall (19:32). Damian Macenhill was 17th (19:48), Sam O’Dongo 22nd (20:07), Stephen Kennefick 23rd (20:20), Michael Smaldon 27th (20:37) and Darren Woods 28th (20:46). Striders’ women were led by Consuelo Kennefick who was the second woman to finish, placing 41st overall (21:30). Yasmin Anderson was the 17th woman to finish (26:59) with Vanessa Wheeler 24th (28:04), Ruth Pearson 35th (30:28) and Annabel Crouch 42nd (31:27). Elsewhere, there were second places for Lee Flanagan in the Lloyd parkrun (19:15) and for Erik Schrijnemaekers in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (19:41).

     

    In the Taunton Marathon on Sunday, Tatsuya Okamoto ran very well to finish eighth out of 103 finishers, recording 2 hours 57 minutes 53. In the Manchester Marathon, Striders were led by Peter Mills who ran 2 hours 57 minutes 16. He was followed by Conor O’Hara-Barrett (3:14:52), Tom Vincent (3:18:29), Alastair Smith (3:22:28), Karen McNulty (3:24:10) and Stephen Allport (3:28:23). In the London Landmarks Half-Marathon, Cindy Siu finished in 1 hour 55 minutes 33.

     

    At the RunThrough Chase The Moon five-kilometre road race at Battersea Park on Wednesday, Steve Massey ran well to place first in the M50 age-group, and 35th overall, recording 19 minutes 28.
