New Striders W65 100 metre record
Lorraine Hunte, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run in the Blackheath & Bromley Open Meeting at Norman Park on Monday. She set a new Striders W65 100 metre record of 17.01 seconds, which places her fifth in this year’s British W65 rankings. In the 800 metres, Joseph Ibe ran 2:23.96 while Steve Starvis ran 2:37:05.
On Saturday, Ally Whitlock ran very well to finish fifth overall in the Montane Summer Spine Sprint, along the Pennine Way from Edale to Hebden Bridge. She completed the undulating 46-mile course in 9 hours 33 minutes 11.
Striders’ second Rosenheim League match of the season was at Sutton Arena on Wednesday. There were third places for James Rhodes in the 800 metres (2:17.1) and Sarah Allport in the women’s 3000 metres (21:06.2). Luke Burden was fourth in the men’s 3000 metres (10:52.0), while there were fifth places for Erik Schrijnemaekers in the 400 metres (64.7) and Stephen Allport in the 1500 metres (5:29.0). Striders’ team of James Rhodes, Stephen Allport, Tim Lawlor and Erik Schrijnemaekers placed fourth in the men’s 4 x 200 metre relay (2:06.8). Striders’ women are currently fourth in the Eastern Division, while their men are sixth.
On the same evening, Striders fielded six teams in the Dinosaur Dash relays at Crystal Palace. Unfortunately, the results were not available at the time of writing.
Jay Lidbetter was first out of 164 finishers in the Riddlesdown parkrun on Saturday (17:25). Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 16th overall (21:46). Striders had a total of 104 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. On Sunday morning, Daniel Finch was first out of 119 finishers in the Lloyd junior parkrun (7:52).
