• Multi-event Paul leads Striders in track & firled

    Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in their first Southern Veterans League match of the season, at Kingsmeadow on Monday. Their best event was the long jump where Paul Cripps won the M50 event (4.36), team manager David Batten won the M60 event (3.34), and Sam O’Dongo was second in the M40 event (4.50). In the 100 metres Cripps placed third in the M50 race in a new club age-group record of 13.8, while O’Dongo equalled the club M40 record of 12.8, placing fourth in a high-quality race. The team placed fifth out of the seven competing clubs, only five points behind local rivals Croydon Harriers, while their women were sixth. Lorraine Hunte set a new club W60 100 metre record of 17.2 seconds, placing second in her race, while Sandra Francis was second in the W50 long jump (3.18).

    Meanwhile Katie Chadd ran the Prague Marathon in 3 hours 58 minutes 42 seconds. Striders had a total of 55 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (22 at Lloyd Park and 33 at other venues), with their best placings coming from Lee Flanagan who was second at Lloyd Park (18.09) and Krzysztof Klidzia who was second at Riddlesdown (18.18).
