Lee Flanagan, from Striders of Croydon, ran well to place second out of 205 finishers in the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park on Saturday, covering the undulating five-kilometre course in 18 minutes 45 seconds. His club colleague Selena Wong was the second woman to finish, placing 37th overall and recording exactly 24 minutes. Striders had a total of 41 finishers at the various weekly parkruns (15 at Lloyd Park and 26 at other venues).
In the Southern Veterans Championships at Kingsmeadow on Sunday, Alan Dolton was fourth in the M55 800 metres (2.51.66). At the Brixton 10-kilometre road race on the same day, Steve Massey placed 14th in 42 minutes 22, while Serena Stracey was the fifth woman to finish, placing 37th overall in 45 minutes 45. Striders’ club secretary Steph Upton was the sixth woman to finish the Arundel 10-kilometre road race, placing 56th overall and first in the W45 age-group, recording 45 minutes 54. Andy Perks placed 18th in the Sevenoaks 7-mile road race (47.36).
