Lee and Rachel lead Striders in long and short races
Lee Flanagan, from Striders of Croydon, showed that he had fully recovered from the London Marathon when he ran very well to place 30th out of 762 finishers in the Ranelagh Richmond Half-Marathon, which incorporated the Surrey Championships, on Sunday. He recorded 79 minutes 48 seconds. Club colleague Krzysztof Klidzia also ran well to place 33rd overall and fourth in the over-50 category, recording 80 minutes 50. Peter Laurence completed Striders’ scoring trio in 184th (96.24). Striders’ women were led by Claire Oyediran who finished 569th overall (2.02.05).
Rachel Lindley was the first woman to finish the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park on Saturday. Only four men finished in front of her as she placed fifth overall, covering the undulating five-kilometre course in 19 minutes 38 seconds. Justin Macenhill was second in the Maldon parkrun (18.21) while Martin Filer was third in the Riddlesdown parkrun (18.41) and Simon Ambrosi was fourth in the Bromley parkrun (17.57). Striders had a total of 51 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (18 at Lloyd Park and 33 at other venues).
