Lee and Krzysztof double up for Striders
Striders of Croydon had three of the first four finishers in the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park on Saturday. Simone Luciani was the first runner home, covering the undulating five-kilometre course in 17 minutes 57 seconds, while veteran Krzysztof Klidzia was third (18.35) and Lee Flanagan was fourth (18.39). Meanwhile Phil Coales won the Brockwell parkrun in 17 minutes 10 seconds, while Lucy Finch was the third woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 20th overall (22.20). Striders had a total of 55 finishers at the various weekly parkruns (23 at Lloyd Park and 32 at other venues).
On the following day Lee Flanagan won the Croydon Jubilee Church 10 kilometre race, held on an undulating course in Selsdon. Krzysztof Klidzia was second and Simon Ambrosi fourth, while Becky Laurence was the first woman to finish. Striders fielded ten teams in the annual Dinosaur Dash Relays in Crystal Palace on Wednesday. Their A team placed eighth. Phil Coales ran their fastest time on the first leg, recording exactly 10 minutes for the undulating three-kilometre course. He was followed by Steve Massey (11.25) and Alistair Smith (12.07). Striders’ fastest woman was Charlotte Letchford, who ran 13 minutes 29.
