Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in the Surrey Womens Cross-Country League Division Two match at Nonsuch Park on Saturday. Their A team did very well to place fifth of the 35 teams in the match, while their B team were 17th.
Striders were led by Josephine Thompson who ran very well to place 15th of the 188 finishers, recording 27 minutes 08 seconds, while Alice Ewen also ran well to place 20th in 27 minutes 29. Michelle Clarke finished strongly to place 42nd (29.25) with Becky Laurence 45th (29.28) and Zoe Williams completing the scoring team in 48th (29.36).
Striders’ B team were led by Debra Bourne who placed 51st (29.45), while Adele Boesinger, making her league debut, did well to place 69th (31.12). Selena Wong was 74th (31.26), Sarah Hansbury 109th (33.19) and Jessica Thomas-Cole 125th (34.32).
On the same day Ernie Hann placed fourth in the parkrun in Lloyd Park, recording 18 minutes 40. Striders had a total of 50 finishers in the various local parkruns.
