James Bennett wins Victoria Park 5km
James Bennett, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well to gain a comfortable win in the Victoria Park five-kilometre road race on Wednesday. In his first race of the summer, he recorded 16 minutes 37 seconds. There were 176 finishers.
On Saturday, Steph Upton was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 35th overall and completing the five-kilometre course in 21 minutes 53 seconds. Graeme Drysdale finished second in the Hoblingwell parkrun (19:57), while Lee Flanagan was fifth in the Lloyd parkrun (18:47). Debra Bourne was the third woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 54th overall (24:43) despite a fall in the wooded section on the first lap. Striders had a total of 80 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
