• Iain reaches personal high at the end of long week

    Iain Harrison continued his fine recent form with a 1o mile personal best at the Sri Chinmoy race at Battersea Park. His time of exactly 59 minutes moves him to 15th in the all-time club records – and came at the end of a 100+ mile training week !

    Damian Macenhill, from Striders of Croydon, ran well to place 32nd out of 547 finishers in the Surrey Spitfire 20-mile road race at Dunsfold Aerodrome on Sunday. Despite also having raced on the previous day, he led Striders home in 2 hours 15 minutes 54 seconds. Darren Jackson was 78th (2.23.13) and William Ward was 154th (2.36.51). Striders’ first woman to finish was Flora Kong who ran 2 hours 55 minutes 03, finishing 302nd overall. Meanwhile, club colleague Josephine Thompson ran a personal best 74 minutes 12 seconds in the Tempest 10-mile road race.
    Krzysztof Klidzia won the Roundshaw Downs parkrun on Saturday morning, covering the five-kilometre course in 18 minutes 18 seconds, while Simon Ambrosi was third in the Bromley parkrun (18.54). Serena Stracey was the first woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun (21.54) with Debra Bourne third (25.02) and Natalie Osher fourth (26.49). For Striders’ men, Damian Macenhill was fourth (21.09) with Gearoid Quigley ninth (21.35) and Steve Massey 11th (21.53). Striders had a total of 29 finishers in the various local parkruns.
