Iain of Striders wins Eton Dorney half marathon
Iain Harrison, from Striders of Croydon, ran very well in wet and windy conditions to win the Maxifuel Half-Marathon at Eton Dorney on Saturday. Iain recorded a new personal best of 76 minutes 41 seconds, finishing almost two minutes clear of his nearest rival. This lifts Iain to eleventh place in Striders’ all-time half-marathon rankings.
On the same day Ernie Hann ran well to win the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, covering the muddy five-kilometre course in 20 minutes 23 seconds. Club colleague Paul Cripps was fourth (22.27) with Dan Forrester close behind in fifth (22.41). Alan Dolton was first in the over-50 category, finishing seventh overall (23.50). Natalie Osher was the fifth woman to finish, placing 24th overall (28.26).
Also on Saturday, Lee Flanagan won the Riddlesdown parkrun in 18 minutes 42 seconds with club colleague Nigel Collins seventh (23.14). Darren Jackson was seventh in the Bromley parkrun (19.56) with Russell Harmsworth tenth (20.16). Striders had a total of 29 finishers in the various local parkruns.
