Iain makes quality return for Striders
Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in Sunday’s Sutton 10-kilometre road race, which was the second event in this year’s Surrey Road League. They were led by Iain Harrison, returning after a long absence through injury, who ran very well to place 11th of the 472 finishers in 36 minutes 03. Justin Macenhill also ran well to place 42nd in 38 minutes 13, while Graeme Drysdale was 67th (40.02), Andy Perks 77th (40.24) and Steve Massey 84th (40.43).
Striders’ women were led by Becky Laurence who placed 217th in 47 minutes 03. Three more of Striders’ women finished in under an hour with Michelle Clarke recording 55 minutes 05, Linda Daniel 55.09 and Melanie Hinds 59.45. Striders had a total of 22 finishers in the race.
On the previous day Striders gained a double victory at the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, with Simone Luciani winning in 17 minutes 26 while Rachel Lindley was the first woman to finish, placing seventh overall in 19 minutes 49. Striders had a total of 48 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (24 at Lloyd Park and 24 at other venues).
