Iain chalks up another speedy marathon
Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in the South of the Thames Cross-Country Association’s annual five-mile championship, held over an undulating course at Reigate on Saturday. Their best performance came from veteran Krzysztof Klidzia who ran well to place 48th of the 215 finishers, recording 33 minutes 28 seconds. Taylor Huggins was 71st (35.20), Barry White 75th (35.29) and Tom Littlewood 199th (45.55). This placed Striders 19th in the team event. Becky Laurence was 61st in the women’s race, recording 47 minutes 39.
Iain Harrison completed the Florence Marathon in an excellent time of 2 hours, 47 minutes, – six weeks after running the Chicago Marathon in a similar time.
Meanwhile Dave Lovell was fifth in the Riddlesdown parkrun (21.20) while Steve Massey was eighth in the Roundshaw parkrun (20.48), Mick Turner eleventh in the York parkrun (19.06) and Simon Webster eleventh in the parkrun at Lloyd Park (22.12). Striders had a total of 25 finishers in the various local parkruns.
