Great performances by Striders at parkrun!
Rachel Lindley, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run to be the first woman to finish the Cambridge parkrun on Saturday, placing eighth overall out of 506 finishers and covering the five-kilometre course in 18 minutes 30 seconds. Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing sixth overall out of 139 finishers (20:22). Becky Laurence was the second woman to finish the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun, placing 26th overall (23:09). For Striders’ men, Jamie Hopps was third in the Crystal Palace parkrun (17:38) while Krzysztof Klidzia was third in the Lloyd parkrun (18:46) and John O’Mahony was fourth in the South Norwood parkrun (20:09). Striders had a total of 82 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the Ridgeway 86-mile race, from Ivinghoe in Buckinghamshire to Avebury in Wiltshire, Debra Bourne was the ninth woman to finish and placed first in the W50 age-group, recording 22 hours 40 minutes 39 seconds.
Striders held their ninth annual triathlon championship at Trinity School on Thursday. The winner was Matthew Stone, who recorded the fastest time in both the swimming and the cycling, while Rob Lines was second and Tom Gillespie third. The first woman was Steph Upton, with Jenny Rowe placing second and Marianne Chua third.
