Great North Run & Stan Allen Mile
Niamh Vincent, from Striders of Croydon, ran well to place first in the W40 age-group in the Gateley Chase The Sun five-kilometre road race at Battersea Park. She was 71st overall out of 305 finishers, recording 21 minutes 21.
In the Great North Run, from Newcastle to South Shields on Sunday, Erik Schrijnemaekers ran well to finish in 82 minutes 28, placing 480th in a large field.
Three Striders competed in the Stan Allen Mile races at Tooting Bec, commemorating the former Herne Hill coach who died in 2014. Phil Coales placed 14th in the A race, recording 4 minutes 48.16. In earlier races, Peter Johnson ran 5:43.47, while Sarah Allport ran 9:39.32.
On Saturday morning, Andrew Aitken was second of 726 finishers in the Bromley parkrun (17:36). Nathan Robertshaw was second out of 195 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (18:45), with Lee Flanagan fourth (19:34). Debra Bourne was the second woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 54rd overall (24:35), while Ellyw Evans was the third woman to finish, placing 53rd overall (26:01). Erik Schrijnemaekers was third out of 152 finishers in the Pocket parkrun at St Neots in Huntingdonshire (19:16). Cindy Siu was the fourth woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 60th overall (25:33). Striders had a total of 97 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
Alao on Saturday, Mick Turner completed the Dingle Marathon in 4 hours 37 minutes 48, placing 333rd out of 708 finishers.
