Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in the Wimbledon 5-kilometre road race on Sunday, which was the final race in this year’s Surrey Road League. They were led by Graeme Drysdale who ran well to place 75th, covering the undulating course in 19 minutes 19. Darren Woods was 88th (19.52), John O’Mahony 89th (19.52) and Lyes Fridi 127th (21.39). For Striders’ women, Maggie Statham was 144th (22.33), Michelle Clarke 165th (23.22), Allie Cairnie 174th (23.58), Selena Wong 179th (24.11), Adele Boesinger 185th (24.51) and Susanna Lutman 196th (26.01).
On the previous day, Tatsuya Okamoto was second in the Roundshaw parkrun (17.28) while Alastair Falconer was second in the Kettering parkrun (18.22) and Lee Flanagan third in the Lloyd parkrun (19.36). Striders had a total of 57 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (20 at Lloyd Park and 37 at other venues).
