Striders of Croydon had an impressive total of 11 teams in the Dinosaur Dash Relays organised by Crystal Palace Fun Runners last week. Their A team placed sixth of the 84 competing teams, with Mike Stewart running 11.19 on the first leg, Steve Massey 11.21 on the second leg and Damian Macenhill 11.06 on the third leg. There were also fast runs from Darren Woods (11.28), Matthew Ostrowski (11.35) and Mick Turner (11.58). Striders’ fastest women were Steph Upton (12.58), Joanne Campbell (13.04), Michelle Clarke (13.38) and Ally Whitlock (13.51).
At the British Masters Championships in Birmingham, Alan Dolton was sixth in both the M60 800 metres (2.55.30) and 1500 metres (5.46.74). In the North Downs 30 kilometre trail race, Darren Woods placed 86th in 2 hours 40 minutes 07.
Striders had the first two finishers in the weekly parkrun at Lloyd Park on Saturday, with Peter Mills placing first (17.54) and Simon Ambrosi second (18.42). Graeme Drysdale was first at the Riddlesdown parkrun (18.33), while Nikki Javan was the second woman at Lloyd Park (24.08). Striders had a total of 52 finishers at the various weekly parkruns (25 at Lloyd Park and 27 at other venues).
