In the Southern Counties Veterans Championships at Ashford on Saturday, Striders of Croydon’s middle-distance coach Alan Dolton won two gold medals, winning the M55 800 metres by just two-tenths of a second in 2.43.3 and also winning the M55 1500 metres (5.41.14).
On the same day Lee Flanagan won the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park, covering the undulating five-kilometre course in 18 minutes 46 seconds. Striders had three of the first women to finish with Zoe Williams placing second (24.13), Allie Cairnie third (24.46) and Carolyn Storey fourth (also 24.46). Meanwhile Simon Ambrosi was third in the Roundshaw parkrun (18.49) and Justin Macenhill was fourth in the Crystal Palace parkrun (18.02). Striders had an impressive total of 60 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (25 at Lloyd Park and 35 at other venues).
