Club records set at the Sri Chinmoy 5km
Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in the Sri Chinmoy five-kilometre road race at Battersea on Tuesday. They were led by Jay Lidbetter who ran very well to place 20th of the 399 finishers in a new club M40 record of 16 minutes 03. Conor O’Hara-Barrett was 147th (18:06) with Erik Schrijnemaekers 161st (18:21) and Ben Dowling 162nd (18:22). Tom Gillespie was sixth in the M50 age-group and 211th overall (19:12). Niamh Vincent was the 32nd woman to finish, placing 244th overall (19:50). Her time was a new club women’s record, although four female Striders have run quicker in ten-kilometre road races. Jennifer Gutteridge was the 41st woman to finish, placing third in the club’s all-time women’s rankings (20:34), while Ellyw Evans was the 50th woman to finish, climbing to fifth place in the club’s all-time women’s rankings (21:16). Striders’ other finishers were Simon Webster (19:50), Tim Lawlor (20:46), Stephen Allport (20:56), Darren Woods (21:18), John O’Mahony (21:41), Rotimi Oyegunle (23:37) and Sara Rahmani (28:16).
On Saturday morning, Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Glen River parkrun in Cork (Ireland), placing eighth overall (22:52). Martin Filer was second in the Kingdom parkrun at Penshurst in Kent (19:29), while Erik Schrijnemaekers was second in the Swanley parkrun (19:51). Cindy Siu was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 39th overall (25:07). Tom Vincent was third in the South Norwood parkrun (19:49). Matthew Stone was fourth in the Maidenhead parkrun (20:02). Anna O’Sullivan was the fourth woman to finish the Orpington parkrun, placing 35th overall (24:03). Striders had a total of 118 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
