Box Hill Fell Race
Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in the Box Hill Fell Race on Saturday. They were led by Harry Madgwick-Lawton who ran well to place 20th, completing the 12-kilometre course in 62 minutes 27. Phil Coales was 82nd (71:05) while Erik Schrijnemaekers was 104th (74:34). Ally Whitlock ran well to be the ninth woman to finish, placing third in the W40 age-group and 112th overall (75:22). Robert Zietz was 172nd (83:33), Simon Webster 174th (83:50), Stephen Allport 175th (83:58), Darren Woods 189th (87:01), Mark Bennett 204th (90:28) and Jadwiga Brzask-Makiela 246th (2:13:11), while Elsa Santana and Michelle Klein were equal 247th (2:13:31).
Earlier in the day, Striders had a total of 99 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. They had three of the first four finishers in the Lloyd parkrun with Lee Flanagan second (19:36), Simon Ambrosi third (20:14) and Luke Burden fourth (20:16). Cindy Siu was the second woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 40th overall (25:05), while Selena Wong was the fifth woman to finish, placing 52nd overall (26:22). Consuelo Kennefick was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 19th overall (22:41). Graeme Drysdale was third in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (19:55), while John Punt was fifth (20:26).
Striders had eight competitors in the Ashby Mile at Croydon Arena on Thursday evening. Their fastest time was recorded by Jay Lidbetter (5:16.9), while their fastest woman was Angela Seesurrun (7:33.5).
