• Annual Croydon Harriers and Striders of Croydon mob match

    The tenth annual ‘mob match’ between Croydon Harriers and Striders of Croydon took place on Saturday morning, in conjunction with the South Norwood parkrun. Croydon Harriers had the first three finishers with Ben Whyte first (17:08), Phil Symonds second (17:29) and David Brown third (17:46). The first Strider to finish was Phil Coales, who placed fourth (17:52). Ernesto Kelly of Harriers was the first under-15 to finish, placing fifth overall (18:00). Scott Miller of Harriers was sixth (18:18) and Freddie Harding of Harriers seventh (18:32). Nick Andrews of Striders was eighth overall and first in the M40 age-group (18:39).

    Striders had the first three finishers in the M50 age-group with Lee Flanagan placing ninth overall (18:56), Andy Perks eleventh (19:06) and Tom Gillespie 13th (19:22). Matthew Stone of Striders was first in the M60 age-group, placing 16th overall (19:35) and achieving an age-grading of 82.64%, which was the best age-graded performance of the day. Graeme Drysdale of Striders was first in the M55 age-group, placing 28th overall (20:47).

    For the third successive year, Zoha Jetha of Harriers was the first female finisher. She placed 27th overall (20:34). Aida Palomares-Dominguez of Harriers was the third female finisher, placing first in the under-15 girls’ age-group and 38th overall (21:43). Consuelo Kennefick of Striders was the fourth female finisher, placing first in the W50 age-group and 44th overall (22:04). Laura Marshall of Harriers was the sixth female finisher, placing second in the W50 age-group and 50th overall (22:25). Ellyw Evans of Striders was the seventh female finisher (23:07), while Millicent Figueira of Harriers was the eighth female finisher (23:44).

    Colin Oxlade of Harriers was first in the M65 age-group, placing 51st overall (22:26). Jon Dean of Striders was second in the M65 age-group, placing 55th overall (22:36). Angela Seesurrun of Striders was first in the W55 age-group, placing 112th overall (25:25).

    Harriers had 27 runners finishing in under 25 minutes, while Striders had 23 runners finishing in under 25 minutes. In total, Striders had 51 finishers while Harriers had 47 finishers. Using the ‘Thornbury’ method whereby all 98 finishers score, Harriers won by 2596 points to 2255. Scoring 47-a-side, Harriers won by 2416 points to 2049.
