Andrew Aitken first Strider at Brighton 10k
Striders of Croydon had several competitors in the Brighton 10-kilometre road race on Sunday. They were led by Andrew Aitken who ran well to place 71st out of 1974 finishers, recording 35 minutes 30 seconds. He was followed by Michael Stewart (37:37), Darren Woods (40:05), Joseph Ibe (40:53) and Steve Massey (42:08). Niamh Vincent was the fifth woman to finish the Richmond 10-kilometre multi-terrain race, recording 43 minutes 48 seconds.
On Saturday, Martin Filer finished first out of 138 runners at the Riddlesdown parkrun (18:11), while Simon Ambrosi was first at the Roundshaw parkrun (19:16) and Simone Luciani was second at the Lloyd parkrun (18:43). Striders had a total of 59 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (19 at Lloyd Park and 40 at other venues). Meanwhile Stephen Lowe was 70th out of 209 finishers in the Wendover Woods 50-mile trail race, recording 11 hours 9 minutes 50 seconds.
