• Alastair Falconer second at Lingfield Dry Hill

    Striders of Croydon did well to have the first three finishers, and the first woman to finish, at the weekly parkrun in Lloyd Park on Saturday. Simone Luciani was first home, covering the undulating five-kilometre course in 17 minutes 53 seconds. He was followed by Simon Ambrosi and Lee Flanagan, who both recorded 18 minutes 46. Zoe Williams was the first woman to finish, placing 72nd overall in 24 minutes 41. Meanwhile Tatsuya Okamoto was first home at the Roundshaw parkrun (18.21), while Selena Wong was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 31st overall (23.24). Striders had a total of 63 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (24 at Lloyd Park and 39 at other venues).

    On the following day, Alastair Falconer ran very well to finish second in the Lingfield Dry Hill 10-mile race, recording 65 minutes 22 seconds. Debra Bourne was the second woman to finish the recent Woldingham Marathon, finishing 14th overall in 4 hours 55 minutes 10 seconds. Rachel Vinton was the third woman to finish the half-marathon which was held at the same time, placing 18th overall in 2 hours 08 minutes 45.
