Veterans AC 10000 metre championships
Andrew Aitken, from Striders of Croydon, had an excellent run in the Veterans AC 10000 metre championships at Battersea Park on Wednesday. He placed fourth overall in 34 minutes 39.06, which was a new club M45 record for this distance on the track. Steve Corfield also ran very well to set a club M60 record of 38:26.01, winning his age group. Peter Johnson placed fourth in the M55 age group (40:42.11).
On Saturday, Phil Coales was first out of 144 finishers in the Mersea Island parkrun (18:37). There were second places for Erik Schrijnemaekers in the Valentines parkrun in Ilford (18:40), Tom Vincent in the South Norwood parkrun (19:41) and Andy Perks in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (20:49). Consuelo Kennefick was the second woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 16th overall (22:36). Striders had a total of 88 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the Reigate Half-Marathon on Sunday, Conor O’Hara-Barrett ran well to place 14th overall in 84 minutes 15. Erik Schrijnemaekers was 29th (87:14) and Simon McHardy 209th (1:46:31). In the RunThrough Half-Marathon in Battersea Park, Graeme Drysdale was 67th overall and second in the M55 age-group (90:19).
In the Reigate 10K on Sunday, Ellyw Evans ran well to be the 12th woman to finish, placing 66th overall (46:11). For Striders’ men, Tom Gillespie was 16th (40:53), Jason Gallagher 21st (42:07), Stephen Harris 30th (44:23) and Tim Lawlor 31st (44:24). Peter Johnson was 62nd in the Larkfield 10K (41:36).
In the Pride 10K in Victoria Park, Justin Macenhill placed 85th (43:27) and was followed by Steve Massey (45:37), Serena Stracey (50:13), Sally Bartlett (65:12), Selena Wong (65:12), James Harrison (68:30), Kerry Kane (68:30), Wendy Crome (68:42), Jacqui Smith (74:33), Yasmin Anderson (75:13), Isabelle Kita (75:27) and Donna Murkin (80:53).
