Striders of Croydon had the first two finishers in the weekly parkrun at Lloyd Park on Saturday morning, with Simone Luciani a comfortable winner in 18 minutes 37 and veteran Krzysztof Klidzia placing second in 19 minutes 17. Striders had an impressive total of 56 finishers in the various weekly parkruns (28 at Lloyd Park and 28 at other venues). Peter Mills ran well to place fifth in the Pirie 10-mile cross-country race at Coulsdon, organised by South London Harriers, recording 60 minutes 50 seconds. Krzysztof Klidzia again ran well to win the over-50 category, placing tenth overall in 63 minutes 55.
Klidzia continued his heavy racing schedule by being the first over-50 to finish the Holly Run six-mile cross-country race at Reigate on Sunday. He placed 14th overall of the 87 finishers, recording 38 minutes 19 seconds. Paul Stanford was 41st (43.45), Andy Perks 42nd (43.56) and Nigel Finch 46th (46.14). Earlier, Nigel’s daughter Lucy Finch had run well to place 11th out of 98 finishers in the under-11 girls’ race over one mile (8.14).
