British Masters five-kilometre road championships
Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in the British Masters five-kilometre road championships at Battersea Park on Sunday morning. Steve Corfield ran very well to place fourth in the M60 age-group (17:54). Andrew Aitken placed tenth in the M45 age-group (17:13) while Tatsuya Okamoto placed 13th in the M40 age-group (17:47).
At the same venue a day earlier, James Rhodes placed 16th out of 144 finishers in the Sri Chinmoy Grizzly Bear 10K in a personal best 34 minutes 14. Ellyw Evans was the 21st woman to finish, placing 101st overall (44:26).
Also at Battersea Park, on Wednesday evening Max Veglio was 34th in the RunThrough Chase the Moon 5K (19:48). Club colleague Steve Massey was first in the M55 age-group and 59th overall (20:18).
On Saturday morning, Striders had 85 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Kara Boaks was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 14th overall (21:28). Cindy Siu was the second woman to finish the Lloyd parkrun, placing 35th overall (24:33). Andy Perks was third in the Roundshaw parkrun (20:00). Selena Wong was the fourth woman to finish the Roundshaw parkrun, placing 47th overall (25:51). Lee Flanagan was fifth in the Lloyd parkrun (20:26), while Debra Bourne was the fifth woman to finish, placing 49th overall (25:34).
On Sunday, Stephen Allport was eighth in the M40 age-group in the Mornington Chasers 10K at Regents Park, placing 39th overall (44:35).
