    Striders of Croydon faced strong opposition in the Ranelagh Richmond 10K on Sunday, which incorporated the Surrey Championships. Consuelo Kennefick ran very well to be the 44th woman to finish, placing 184th overall in a club W50 record of 43:50. Striders’ men were led by Phil Coales, who placed 48th out of the 471 finishers (37:42). Steve Corfield did well to win a Surrey bronze medal in the M55 age-group, placing 79th overall (39:13). Erik Schrijnemaekers was 104th (40:23), Tom Gillespie 116th (40:51), Martin Filer 138th (41:44), Stephen Kennefick 230th (45:44) and John O’Mahony 246th (46:36).

    In the Nonsuch Relays on Tuesday evening, Striders placed fourth out of nine teams in the mixed-sex relay. Their team comprised Angela Seesurrun (14:52), Stephen Kennefick (11:45), Vanessa Wheeler (15:12) and Consuelo Kennefick (12:55). 

    In the Veterans AC 5000 metre championships, at Battersea on Wednesday, Steve Corfield ran well to place third in the M60 age-group (18:23.71), while Peter Johnson placed seventh (20:34.81).

    On Saturday morning, Striders had a total of 104 finishers in the various weekly parkruns. Greg Kirby placed second out of 164 finishers in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (18:48), while Tom Gillespie placed fourth out of 284 finishers in the South Norwood parkrun (20:15).
