North Downs Way 100-miles
Rachel Lindley, from Striders of Croydon, was the 15th female finisher in the Centurion North Downs Way 100-mile race, from Farnham in Surrey to Ashford in Kent. She completed the undulating course in 27 hours 15 minutes 23.
The final Surrey Road League tables were published this week. Striders’ women placed ninth, while their men were eleventh out of the 30 competing clubs. Individually, Steve Corfield placed third in the M55 age-group, while Stephen Harris was fifth. Leonie Hondeborg was fifth in the senior women’s category, while Stephen Tyler was seventh in the M65 age-group, and Martin Filer was tenth in the M45 age-group.
In the Sri Chinmoy 5K at Battersea Park on Tuesday, Niamh Vincent was the 44th woman to finish, placing 241st overall (19:57). Martin Harrison was 156th (17:58), Erik Schrijnemaekers 180th (18:27), Tim Lawlor 223rd (19:31), Peter Johnson 246th (20:06) and Darren Woods 275th (21:01).
In the Watford Open Meeting on Wednesday, James Rhodes placed tenth in his heat of the 800 metres (2:09.81). In the Blackheath & Bromley Open Meeting at Norman Park on Monday, Steve Corfield placed fifth in his heat of the 800 metres (2:17.42).
On Saturday morning, Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 13th overall out of 242 finishers (21:13). Martha Taylor was the second woman to finish the Newbury parkrun, placing 21st overall out of 510 finishers (21:01). Striders had a total of 117 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
In the Lloyd junior parkrun on Sunday morning, Caleb Macenhill placed second out of 125 finishers in a personal best 8:01, while Zoe Siu was the first female finisher, placing fourth overall (8:13).
