• Ranelagh Half-Marathon

    Striders of Croydon produced some good performances in the Ranelagh Half-Marathon on Sunday, which incorporated the Surrey Championships. Ellyw Evans ran well to be the 30th woman to finish, placing 215th overall out of 462 finishers (1:41:28). Leonie Hondeborg was the 42nd woman to finish, placing 245th overall (1:45:00), while Maili Singh was the 91st woman to finish, placing 351st overall (1:59:21).

    Striders’ men were led by Steve Corfield who placed ninth in the M55 age-group and 77th overall (1:27:21). Andy Perks was close behind in 79th place (1:27:33) with Stephen Harris 81st (1:27:48) and Tim Lawlor completing the scoring quartet in 152nd (1:35:31). Josef Freedman was 187th (1:39:10), Kechong Nguyen 226th (1:42:49), Rotimi Oyegunle 250th (1:46:09) and Mick Turner 389th (2:06:39).

    Also on Sunday, Phillip Gardner ran the Copenhagen Marathon in 3:22:17. Six days earlier, Nathan Davies completed the Milton Keynes Marathon in 3:24:24.

    In the Blackheath & Bromley Open Meeting at Norman Park on Monday, Phil Coales ran well to place fourth in the 3000 metres (9:14.70) and fifth in the A 800 metres (2:05.52), both of which were new personal bests. James Rhodes (800m, 2:09.22), Steve Corfield (800m, 2:20.37), Peter Johnson (3000m, 11:07.71) and Lorraine Hunte (100m, 17.67) also competed.

    On Saturday morning, Niamh Vincent was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing 20th overall (21:17). Striders had a total of 128 finishers in the various weekly parkruns, including 25 in the Zuiderpark parkrun at the Hague in Holland. Later that day, Phil Coales placed 12th at the Ladywell 10000 metres (35:00.29), while James Rhodes ran 2:07.53 for 800 metres in Belfast.

    On Sunday morning, Zoe Siu was the first female finisher at the Lloyd junior parkrun, placing second overall out of 151 finishers (8:16).
