Box Hill Fell Race
Ally Whitlock, from Striders of Croydon, ran well to be the ninth woman to finish the 44th annual Box Hill Fell Race on Saturday. She placed third in the W40 age-group and 96th overall out of 242 finishers, completing the 13-kilometre course in 74 minutes 48 seconds. Club colleague Martin Filer was 107th (76:36).
Also on Saturday, Martha Taylor was the first woman to finish the South Norwood parkrun, placing sixth overall out of 198 finishers (20:25), while Niamh Vincent was the second woman to finish, placing eleventh overall (21:36). Consuelo Kennefick was the first woman to finish the Riddlesdown parkrun, placing 12th overall out of 131 finishers (24:04). Daniel Finch placed second out of 92 finishers in the Bethlem Royal Hospital parkrun (18:54), while Nathan Robertshaw was third (20:03). Phil Coales placed third out of 491 finishers in the Peckham Rye parkrun (18:06). Steve Corfield placed third out of 172 finishers in the Lloyd parkrun (22:12), while Cindy Siu was the second woman to finish, placing 30th overall (25:32). Striders had a total of 107 finishers in the various weekly parkruns.
On Sunday morning, Striders had the first two finishers in the Lloyd junior parkrun. Thomas Finch placed first out of the 105 finishers, completing the two-kilometre course in 7:58, while Zoe Siu placed second (8:31). In the Brighton Coastal 10-mile race, Lee Roberts ran 1:27:41, followed by Sheena Hammond (1:35:23) and Theresa Staunton (1:42:43).
